Understanding Your Health Data in the App
The Unique Health app (App Store or Google Play) works together with your Herz P1 Smart Scale to turn your measurements into easy-to-understand health insights. This article explains what each measurement means, why it matters, and how to use it to track your progress over time.
These numbers are designed to help you understand trends and changes in your body. They are for wellness tracking and should not replace medical advice. Think of the scale as your wellness and fitness companion, guiding you along your journey and helping you reach your health and fitness goals.
Weight
What it is:
Your total body weight, including muscle, fat, water, bones, and organs.
Why it matters:
Weight is the most basic measurement and a starting point for tracking changes. However, weight alone does not tell the full story of your health.
π‘Tip:
If your weight stays the same but your body fat goes down and muscle goes up, that is a positive change. It means your body is getting stronger and healthier, even if the number on the scale does not change.
BMI (Body Mass Index)
What it is:
BMI is a number calculated using your height and weight.
Why it matters:
It gives a general idea of whether your weight is in a healthy range. It is often used as a quick screening tool.
π‘Good to know:
BMI does not tell the difference between muscle and fat, so athletic or muscular people may see a higher BMI even if they are perfectly healthy.
Body Fat Percentage
What it is:
The percentage of your body weight that comes from fat.
Why it matters:
Body fat percentage is more helpful than weight alone. It shows how much fat your body is carrying, which is linked to overall health.
π‘Tip:
Small changes over time are more important than a single reading.
Muscle Mass
What it is:
The total weight of your muscles, including skeletal muscles.
Why it matters:
Muscle helps with strength, balance, metabolism, and daily movement. More muscle can help your body burn more calories at rest.
π‘Tip:
Strength training and enough protein can help maintain or increase muscle mass and is important especially as we age.
Body Water Percentage
What it is:
The percentage of water in your body.
Why it matters:
Water is essential for digestion, circulation, temperature control, and joint health. Low body water can affect other measurements too.
π‘Good to know:
Hydration levels change throughout the day, so measure at the same time for consistency.
Bone Mass
What it is:
An estimate of the mineral content in your bones.
Why it matters:
Healthy bones support movement and protect organs. Bone mass usually changes slowly over time.
Important note:
This is an estimate, not a medical bone density test.
Protein Level
What it is:
An estimate of the protein content in your body.
Why it matters:
Protein supports muscles, tissues, immune function, and recovery. Low protein levels may affect strength and energy.
π‘Tip:
Balanced meals with enough protein help support healthy levels.
Visceral Fat
What it is:
Fat is stored deep inside the abdomen, around internal organs.
Why it matters:
High visceral fat is linked to higher health risks compared to fat stored under the skin.
Goal:
Lower visceral fat levels are generally better for long-term health.
Subcutaneous Fat
What it is:
Fat is stored just under the skin.
Why it matters:
This is the fat you can pinch. While it still matters, it is generally less risky than visceral fat.
π‘Good to know:
Both diet and physical activity can affect subcutaneous fat over time.
BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate)
What it is:
The number of calories your body needs to perform basic functions like breathing and circulation while at rest.
Why it matters:
BMR helps you understand how many calories your body needs before activity is added.
π‘Tip:
Muscle mass can increase your BMR over time.
Body Type
What it is:
A general category based on your body composition, such as fat level and muscle balance.
Why it matters:
It gives a quick overview of how your body composition is changing.
π‘Good to know:
Body type is not a label. It may change as your habits and lifestyle change.
Standard Weight
What it is:
An estimated healthy weight range based on your height and other factors.
Why it matters:
It provides a reference point to help you understand where your current weight sits.
π‘Reminder:
Everyone’s body is different. This number is a guide, not a rule.
